Hi, I just found out today that the 64 bit alpha version of synthedit is available and that it supports VST3 which is great for me since I'm a cubase user. I have a couple of quick questions for you guys since you've probably been using this for a while:
1. Do the exported VST 3 plugins support sidechain inputs and if so how does one configure the inputs to make them appear properly as sidechainable in cubase.
2. Is it no longer possible to put VST 2 plugins inside synthedit creations when creating a VST 3 plugin? It doesn't appear that you can from the looks of the preferences dialog, but I might just be missing something. It would be absolutely amazing if you could as synthedit could then be used as a wrapper for sidechainable VST 2 plugins in cubase and would eliminate the need for using those dumb quad channels.
3. I'm planning on putting together some fft modules for extremely weird processing (if the sidechaining works that is) and VST 3 plugins automatically report changes in their latency to cubase (with VST 2 plugins you have to disable and re-enable them to get cubase to notice a change in latency.
Im gonna play around for a few hours tonight so I might be able to find out some of this on my own, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, JJ

1. sorry, i dont know because steinberg offers no simple cubase demos to try out. 2. mmm only for wrapping you could try image lines "Minihost Modular" for free (still beta) or maybe Jbridge (no freeware) but i dont know if they support sidechaning. 3. what is a fft-module?

Fast Fourier transform probably..

Mini host modular and jBridge are both vst2.4 dolls and not vst 3. I'm trying to make creative sidechaining in Cubase easier and if one can load a vst v2 plugin into SE and export that as a VST v3 plugin it would be worth the price of the license just for simplifying this part of my workflow. As of right now I no of no subhost or wrapper that runs as a vst3 plugin that will allow you to have vst 2 plugins appear as vst3 plugins to a host program sidechains and all. regarding 3. FFT stands for fast Fourrier Transform which is a method for converting signals into the frequency domain and processing them there. It is the only type of dsp I have any kind of programming and also extremely fun to use on signals. Once I can get 64 bit VST3 plugins exporting properly with sidechain inputs I'm planning on using the custom code module to build a nice little FFT library of modules for extreme sound mangling and combining. so have any Cubase users successfully exported a 64 bit vst3 plugin with a working sidechain with the latest alpha? thanks JJ

mmm maybe we can test this together but i would need the .dll (.vst3) to include it. i would export to vst3 and send you the synthedit.dll plugin. so you can checkout your own.
