Hello,
Can someone confirm that it's not only on my computer that this Happen ?
Just open a new project in Synthedit 1.1, insert one DH_TextAppend module and then insert a Patch Automator. It crashes Synthedit immediatly each time.
Thanks
Sylvain

Hmmm, that's strange. DH_TextAppend seem to be the only module that refuse to work with the Midi Patch Automator on my computer... And I really can't insert a Midi Patch Automator in any porject which has a DH_TextAppend in the same container or in a sub coontainer. I'm on Windows 8.1, which OS do you run ?

Version 2.0 too.
Can you try the same thing but within a container ? --> New project, insert a container, inside this container insert DH_TextAppend then insert the patch automator.
For some unknown reason, I need to place both module in a container to crash Synthedit now... Maybe my tries where already inside a container, but I really think it wasn't. Now, I can insert both module in a new project, but as soon as I containerise them, Synthedit crash.
EDIT : I've just try to install synthedit 1.1 on another Windows 8 computer : same problem (need to place both modules inside a container to crash Synthedit)
Then I install it on a windows XP computer: SAME PROBLEM !
I install synthedit directly from the webpage (at least for the windows 8 machine), and I try to reinstall DH_text append from internet too. Nothing work.

Ahhh, yea I get the same crash now. Also after containerizing the two modules, then containerize again.
The only way it didn't crash was inserting a patch automator and then the textappend module. Containerizing that also results in a crash.

Ok, thanks a lot, even if it's not really a good new, at least I know now that I must avoid to use the DH_TextAppend. It's a shame as it was really usefull to make user setable sample library path. But synthedit is great and there's each time another way to go.

I'll keep it in mind, maybe i'll recreate the module in sdk3.

It seems I already created the module, it's in my GUI/text folder. RH-Text-Append And using it with the patch automator doesn't crash SE. I notice i've added spaces between the text strings, guess not handy for your needs? Attachments:

Wow, that's great ! I'll test it soon, but it seems to be perfect thanks again.
Another question, do you know or own a module that looks like the FileDialog module but that can output the complete path of an empty folder ?

Hi Rob,
Is there a good reason to use PatchMemoryText2 modules with your RH_TextAppend instead of a text redirector like the one from Dave Haupt or yours ? The DH_textAppend has its inputs on the opposite side of yours, so I assume there's a good reason...

If you don't use patch memory modules with them, you lose the set text after reloading a project. So always use patch memory modules with subcontrols that need recalling the setting after reload.
The text redirector modules are not that useful anymore, they have problems with saving and recalling projects. I didn't know that when I built them. Only use them if memory isn't needed in the structure you make.

Good to know... I need to check some of my projects which must have some text redirector. What about using KDL GUI2DSP modules instead of patch memory modules ?
Is there somewhere a summary of known problems with modules ? (I remember I have read somewhere that splitters should also be avoid, but I'm not sure it's true)

DSP doesn't require patchmemory stuff, guess they are OK to use ( am not 100% sure, they are old modules ). No, there isn't a summery with known problems.. Only know one-to-many is better to use then many-to-one.

How should I replace the text redirector here ? I need the DSP text output to connect to a CK_SampleStation

I tried your structure, filing in the unknown, and after I saved the project and reloaded it. The text I set stayed, so think your good to go thanks to the patch mem in the structure.
