Hi!
I wanna create a VST drum sampler. Does anyboy know if it's possible in SE to have a sound preview when choosing a sound file in the browser window before loading it into the waveplayer?

Hi all,
I have a question regarding samplers and playback.
Currently I'm messing around with a sampler type synth and I've noticed that as the samples pitch is changed it's playback speed also changes (i.e. - if the pitch rises the speed increases).
Is there a way to counter this speed change so that only the pitch of the sample is affected?
{sorry, didn't mean to high-jack the thread, just seemed like a good place to ask the question}

yes, its called "time-stretching" but the only one module i know is not really good. i think its more easy to work with multisamples.

Thanks KlangM. So it's possible, just not easy. Since I'm wanting to work with some one-off single sample 'found' sounds, the multisamples that would be possible with an instrument are not always possible. I guess I could use Reaper or Studio One to create the samples roughly an octave apart, and kinda create multisamples. Would be a little more work, but sounds like the only way to get to where I want to go!

Well, You actually always just put a filename to the waveplayers input. Preview is accomplished by triggering the player, just like if You were playing it. If the sound You found is ok, just continue working with that filname on the Waveplayer. If not the right one, select another sound, and press Your triggering 'preview-button'. Setting it to trigger '5 Volts-to-pitch', You'll (of course) hear the original recordings pitch. No hokus pokus (And if You have a soundcard with more than 2 analog outputs, You could make the Preview button also select ie. Sound Out 3+4 thereby avoiding the previewed sound to be send to the front-speakers, but instead gets routed to ie. a set of hedphones etc.)

I have Studio One Pro and it comes with a license for Melodyne Essential, which I believe only works with mono signals (and that may still be enough). But, from time to time they send me offers to upgrade to Melodyne Editor at a reduced rate. Sounds like I need to take advantage of one of those offers in the near future.
My thanks to you again for another excellent tip.

no problem... if its only mono you can split your stereo sample to 2 mono samples. edit both with melodyne and fuse them again. this can be done with audactity. audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=enits freeware PS: or buy it

To make a preview function, maybe insert a second Waveplayer, just for this purpose, and feed this players input filename-pin from a fileselector-module, or Your own txt-based list of files to use, using a text-copy function. Should be possible, I think. Using a second Waveplayer also makes it possible to preview different modes (pitch, fwd/rev etc.) without changing parameter values in Your current selected Preset.

I use Txt-lists 'cause I normally work with known sounds.
Dave Haupts filemodules are nice though.

Hello, does anybody knows where is the DH_folderbrowser module ? It's not included in the SubControl pack3... I found a version somewhere on the web but it's a SEM module, not a sem module... I think it's the difference between SE 1.0 and SE 1.1 module. I tried to rename the module in sem but then SE crash when I insert it in a project. Is there another module that can out put the path of an empty folder ? Thanks
