Hey, my lastest synth is consumming around 60% of CPU when im using long notes in my MIDI keyboard or when i press a lot of keys at same time on it. When it is normal play like a string followed of another, rapid transitions with few release and sustain consumes around 10%. The synth is composed by 3 oscillators and 2 PD oscillators and has around 11 waveshapers. I must say that it is consumming less than what i thought considering that this happens with a synth that it featured of many effects as 2 chorus, equalizer, 2 stereo delays, trancegate, 2 reverbs, distortion and octave stepper.
I have an AMD 2.2ghz dual core with 2Gb RAM.
Do you guys think this is too much of consume or will the synth suite well on more modern computers?!
Thanks: Duarte V.

well.... sometimes "less is more". and thats why people build specific synths like synths for bass, synths for trance or synths for pads. a "all in one" is mostly consuming more cpu-power. and it depends on your SE-Structure. for example you cant deactivate standart-oscillators. that means they are allways "ON" and consuming cpu-power. also you can optimize your structure to save cpu-power by adding switches in the right order. but switches use cpu-power to so you have to find the right balancing. the number of polyphony also affect the cpu-power...... the best solution is to by a professionel vst-pluging

well, all you say its what i do... i just would like to know if around 60% in my 2.2ghz may resemble to 30% on a 3ghz for eg. Basicaly mi no asking for a solution, cause i do not find a problem..im just asking if the plugin could have a significant better performance on a higher cpu or if it will be rather equal?!
I do not have a higher cpu to test, so guys that know more than me about computers should know, right?!

if you want i can test it with an amd-3Ghz Quadcore. it will be a less but i dont think from 60 to 30%. also that depends on the DAW i think.
