Hi folks, the other day I finally set up my new machine, an I7-8700K with 16GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Everything is now working fine with exception of Synthedit x64 which now crashes at startup It worked perfectly on my previous hardware (Core2Duo 4GB, same OS). Here's what I get in the crash log (sorry for the Italian, my Windows 7 is Italian version): Firma problema: Nome evento problema: CLR20r3 Firma problema 01: synthedit.exe Firma problema 02: 1.3.265.20497 Firma problema 03: 5b1083e2 Firma problema 04: PresentationCore Firma problema 05: 4.0.30319.17929 Firma problema 06: 4ffa6e63 Firma problema 07: 159b Firma problema 08: f0 Firma problema 09: System.MissingMethodException Versione SO: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 ID impostazioni locali: 1040 Informazioni aggiuntive 1: cf2b Ulteriori informazioni 2: cf2bbefc5b656e7d8c770fed3cc45cf4 Ulteriori informazioni 3: e029 Ulteriori informazioni 4: e029e65df96d767758e9101b0c1adc13 I tried to reinstall Visual C++ 2015 stuff x64 from Microsoft site but that did not help... Any idea Thanks in advance !!!!

What version of .Net is installed?
P.S. you know Win7 doesn't officially support your 8700K right? That might or might not cause issues with wrong or overlapping drivers.
P.P.S. I'm also upgrading to the 8700K in about 6 weeks time, can't friggin wait!

RE: Win7 and Coffe Lake, well more or less I knew. The only annoyances I enceountered to date is during installation (I had to use a temporary USB 2.0 PCI card) bc USB 3 was not detected by Win7 before installing the mobo drivers, and the fact I can't use the 8700K GPU (if not in basic VGA mode), therefore I stil have to use a GFX card (a real pity, bc my ASRock Pro4 supported natively my 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor thru HDMI without need for gfx card)... but for the rest, everything seems to work flawlessly: Reaper, tons of VSTs, everything... Well, with exception of Synthedit indeed
Fact is, I don't want Windows 10, rather death !!! LOL... But it's not just me... just google around and see how many professionals and musicians would rather die or undergo tortures than switching to Win 10 LOL LOL I hope I am not doomed to not being able to use Synthedit anymore though !!!!!!!!

Anyway (OT) yeah just do it and enjoy the wild power of the new I7! I've been using a rather old Core2Duo DAW for years (but ya know, when you have to work you have to work and you can't spend time and energy for HW/SW upgrades every year !!!) But eventually I reached a point I could no longer procrastinate an upgrade. Just to make an example, a Reaper project full of plugins and tracks which caused 50% CPU load on my old DAW now just loads the CPU at 1% at most The 8700K is a wild beast... 12 threads @ 3700 Mhz !!

SOLVED - Thanks for the hint, it was enough to install .NET 4.6 and now Synthedit works again I just missed it was specified in the download page that it required 4.6 AARGH What I hate is when programs just crash without specifying they need the proper version of resources etc ! Thanks !

It's not actually SE that crashed btw, it was .NET. that "CLR20r3" is a .NET error, hence why I asked. Glad you got it sorted. I'm switchin from i5-2500 so I'm also looking forward to the CPU boost!
