what methods can i use to give 'analogue irregularity' to a synth?

For Oscillators you could introduce a tiny pitch drift.

sample & hold LFO randomized pitchshift for sequenzing steps a randomized delay to note timing
2 LFO combined with different speed and pitch.

yeah...2 mod sources.. but not too much. pitch mod is? vibrato(if fast), tremolo is? amp mod? a slow *very* fine detune at random steps? with an 'amount' control.
what about phase? on the SE osc, you get: Phase Mod 0-10 default 0 PM(phase mod)Depth 0-10 default 5 (still not sure how this combines with 'angle' etc. -or what can be done with that-)
does this mean it's set to 'half'/50%, with Amount set to zero? s'pose so. or? 5 is 'centre'?
so Phase Mod is a CV input (the primary one) - and so is PMDepth of course. what happens if you feed S+H(/triangle/sine/pulse/ramps?) into these?
the SE Poly synth prefab has these modulations, it's very good - so that's what the effect would be?

not this? phase: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase_%28waves%29don't you refer to offsetting phase in degrees? 180° is inverse, 360° shifted +one full cycle? so the 5/10 setting is..? if you observe this on the scope, it helps. pretty sure you can produce that shift. need to refresh memory on this. so PhaseMod would be a modulation of that shift either by envelope or a regular oscillation. does that sound like chorus?

the pins are carrier and modulator inpûts?

uhhhm... yes i think so. look into the FM-synth prefab. its called FM but its PM like yamaha dx7.

ok, got it in front of me now: if you open a new osc, defaults are: phasemod=0 PMDepth=5 FM synth is the basic principle, without other operators or algorithms: the Carrier EG affects carrier PMDepth (in RingMod, Audio to Pitch in?) Modulator audio provides phase modulation to the Carrier, and only the Carrier outputs audio. here, the Modulator has: phasemod=5 PMDepth=5 (no inputs) and the Carrier has both pins controlled by Modulator. why does the Modulator have phasemod=5?
