Cool man! Thanks a lot for making this! Now I finally can leave this ridiculous yahoo user group where it everytime took two weeks until a post has shown up.
I hope more people will follow.

Btw, just noticed posts only can be seen when you're logged in. When you're logged out the forum appears completely blank which may stop new users to register because they think the forum is dead. You may better make the posts public for everyone.

Yep, all ok now :-) My opinion is every part of a forum should be readable publicly. At least it's nothing secret that's discussed here, or is it? ;-) This also allows google web-crawlers to scan it, and so when someone looks for a solution for a se based problem on google he will be taken here.
Of course it's important that only registered members can post and that eventual spammers are banned/deleted. The funny thing is that on yahoo se user groups, although every post made by new members obviously had to be approved by an administrator, there were posts containing obvious spam (advertisment links). And on the other hand serious posts were delayed or rejected.
I'm really glad that you made this pace. It will (hopefully) make synthedit and lively discussion and exchange about it live up again.

It's important that the current yahoo synthedit user group members come to know it, I'm sure everyone will gladly register here instead. So simply post the link then and when on yahoo user groups so that it's on top and people who check in will notice it.
Maybe it would be useful if someone (maybe the best you?) made Jeff know about the place so that he eventually too can post his news/updates directly on this place too. I'm pretty sure he will be positive about this new place since it's much more easily handlable for everyone.
If Jeff has the emails of the members (does he? or is it managed by someone else? that's what I never fully understood) he maybe could send out a mass-email by himself to make members know about the new place. There's really no use at all to keep this old tedious place going when we have something so much better here.

Think Jeff does see the link as well, he was a member at SEG back then but always kept posting updates at Yahoo. Don't think he'll abandon the Yahoo group, there is also a lot of old but usefull information there. Same for the SDK group. Update: Submitted the forum url to Google and Bing search engines.

I will say, the website forum is very impressive. I think all synthedit users should join. It is easier to see what topics people posted then the yahoo user groups. But then again, I do realize some people like to keep topics more private from the public. Maybe if this site grows, we can crowd fun enough money to run this site so user can post bigger than 1mb files.
