look at this: app.box.com/s/i3a4h5awg95i642xtua3(SE11 screenshot) this is how 1.1 displays on my machine - because i have changed my textpage background from white to pale grey in my desktop preferences. it gives me a gentle grey background instead of burning my eyes out lookng at bright white. Jeff sez ah, it's for *blind people* tcha-wdf.. *what* blind people?! are using SE?(without wishing to cause offence etc) - this is the sole reason i haven't moved on to 1.1. don't really understand why SE had to depend on the Windows Theme. i can get to a slightly muted offwhite before the colours flip; s'pose i could have a separate logon with another background theme? but SE will still give me a lary bright screen. what other BG colours can i use without flipping to darkblue view? any other workaround?!

Hi, I like the tidea of having a grey background.
I have myself a nice default skin that is not so ugly that the one that comes with SE
I will post it now in the appropriate forum so you can give it a spin.

great! need a skins section for complete working skins that conform to default skin size etc. *at last* haven't found many complete replacement skins out there for download. look forward to trying it.

the background is resolved/addressed in 1.2, it seems.
for 1.914: if i want to use eg: light grey as my Windows text page colour - this is what defines the SE workspace colour - to get less screen brightness
*how could i con* Windows/SE into using another RGB/HSB value ...-> ah: con SE into accepting the darker colour, without flipping to dark blue mode?... that's the one... have to know the threshold where it changes.( is it just going to be a single bit to change? maybe using a bit further up, so that changing it doesn't affect anything in lower values?) i'm just thinking of the simple little thing that screws up v 1.1914 for me... :-\ (used to have a tinted screenguard on an old computer..)

i did think it was strange SE should depend on the Windows theme. most programs have their own preferences for this.
probably a reason for it: > what?
