panels are simple in 1.01x, and you can put the patchmem anywhere you want.
i read that you have to observe one or two rules re: patchmem location , in 1.1 and that control activity is affected by where you put patchmems. this is important for me because of the structure i've been using.
what are the differences?
nb: i've got used to putting patchmems in their own folder, a 'memory'/patch container - i suppose ultimately i could just put the Patch Module in there, and have everything else as 'ignorePC'. it makes it easy to manage and view, and i can then work all the viewable stuff via the blue background pins: these are the only ones that go in+out of the GUI container. eg: GUI>patch>DSP (>outski>)
if i have to keep patchmems close to the GUI objects, it means changing all this.
apparently a control 'becomes inactive'(?) when its panel is hidden... i don't know what that means: its values can't change anymore/remain fixed until the panel is viewable again? this is at odds with how i've come to think about SE operation.
possible also to summarise here, with other GUI issues that need to be understood? saw comments re: sizing etc.
**and** please, how 1.1 differs 'under the bonnet', in layman's terms(!), with a bit of background on how Windows handles graphics,(distinct from other OS) the jargon and its meaning(oh yes), ... ...> how it changes from 1.01x onwards - what the microsoft C++ libraries represent, in this context (separately from having a compiler, SDK etc. installed), -and where/if /what they have an audio role-

when you set a control over another control considering graphics (a knob in top of another knob) if you move the upper knob value through GUI the downward knob is also changed. Using the panel system you can set one knob over another and when you change one the other remains inactive with the same value of before.
Considering MIDI control i believe that there is no problem in changing different knobs and different values even if the panel is not visible.
The panel technique is applied so that the user does not change both knobs values when they are in the same GUI position of the screen!
